I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the pair came face-to-face to promote next month's bout.

Former two time unified title holder Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will damage his features and hurt his body. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

In spite of those words, a calm Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British rival Fury - and declined a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's present here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters participated in the customary confrontation, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is actually happening.
